Supervised Visitation

Supervised Visitation is provided between parents, children, sibling, and/or others who have been separated due to allegations of abuse or neglect, or are involved with juvenile probation. Visitation allows the child an opportunity to reconnect and reestablish the parent/child/family relationship in a safe environment. It is a time for parents to learn and practice new parenting techniques and to assess their own ability to parent through interaction with the child. Supervised visitation allows the referring agency, to assess the relationship between the child and parent and to assist the parent in strengthening their parenting skills, and develop new skills.

The role of the visitation provider is to protect the integrity of the visit and provide a positive atmosphere where parents and children may interact in a safe, structured environment. PWG offers a homelike environment for comfortable visitation.

Trained staff are present to observe and document what takes place at each visit.

Parenting with Grace is a member of the Supervised Visitation Network (SVN) which is a national nonprofit membership organization that is a network of agencies that are assuring that children can have safe, conflict-free access to parents with whom they do not reside. SVN is dedicated to providing children with opportunities for safe, conflict-free access to both parents.

Safe Exchanges

Additional Information

Safe exchanges are available for families in which children need to be exchanged between participants, usually for a weekend or holiday visits.  Families experiencing these situations can utilize PWG center as a safe alternative to conflicted confrontations, or exchanging children in parking lots, at police stations, fast food restaurants, and other public areas. PWG staff facilitate the physical exchange of the child(ren) and maintain a strict, no-contact policy for participants while at PWG. Participants wait in separate areas while staff walk children from one participant to the other, eliminating any opportunity for face-to-face contact or other communications.
